About PlayableTrip
Who builds PlayableTrip, how we research and fact-check Tokyo places, and how we keep practical information, prices and routes up to date.
A map you can use before your trip
PlayableTrip is an interactive travel guide built around a simple planning problem: a list of attractions does not show how a city fits together. Our Tokyo guides connect individual places to neighborhoods, and neighborhoods to itineraries you can play on a 3D map. Start with a district, open a place card, then follow a route to see the order of its stops. The purpose is to make a plan easier to understand before you book.
The map is a planning aid rather than a navigation service. It helps you notice when your sightseeing interests are spread across different areas, compare possible hotel bases and save places for later. Its curated travel pack is deliberately selective. Inclusion is an editorial choice, not a claim that every business, landmark or worthwhile experience in Tokyo is listed.
How we research and review guides
We select places for their relevance to a first trip, their place in a district and the variety they add to a daily plan. We distinguish practical facts from editorial recommendations. An opinion about atmosphere, a suggested order of stops or a preferred hotel area is presented as planning advice. Prices, operating hours, admission rules and access details should be checked against an official operator or transport source.
A Source & review section links to the official or primary reference used for a place. A verification date describes the information check; a Last updated date describes an editorial change. Neither date guarantees that a venue has kept its schedule or prices unchanged since that day. Before purchasing a ticket or traveling to a venue, follow its current official page. When we cannot verify a detail, we direct you to the operator instead of filling in an estimate.
Reviews are prompted by reported errors, changes in official information and planned content revisions. We do not promise a daily or weekly update schedule. To report a problem, send the page address, the disputed statement and an official source if available. We assess the evidence before changing the guide, so useful corrections can improve both the article and the connected map.
Who writes the guides
The PlayableTrip Editorial Team is the site’s editorial attribution. The team works on Tokyo research, fact checking and the links between places, districts and playable routes. We do not imply that this attribution represents a named licensed guide, a travel certification or a personal visit to every attraction. Individual author biographies will be added when verified information is supplied.
How we make money
Some travel booking links may earn a commission if you complete a qualifying purchase. We identify these links near the booking module and explain the arrangement in our affiliate disclosure. Official operator links remain available alongside commercial channels when useful. A commission does not determine which district we recommend or which practical restrictions we mention.
Map data and feedback
The interactive map uses MapLibre GL, OpenFreeMap and data from OpenStreetMap contributors. The map’s position markers and the editorial guides serve different purposes: a marker helps place an attraction in the city, while its guide explains why you might include it. Check official access instructions for the correct entrance. Our contact page explains how to send a correction or a partnership inquiry.
