Privacy Policy
How PlayableTrip handles analytics, local storage for saved places, map requests and third-party booking links, plus your privacy choices.
What this policy covers
This policy describes the PlayableTrip website and its interactive Tokyo guides. You can browse the guides without creating an account. The site does not provide a payment form or make hotel and ticket reservations itself. If you follow a booking link, the provider handles your transaction under its own terms and privacy policy. This policy is provided for transparency and should be reviewed by the site owner.
Saved places and explored progress
The map stores your saved place identifiers, viewed place identifiers, viewed district identifiers and played route identifiers in your browser’s local storage under the key playabletrip:explore. These records let the map remember your Save choices and explored percentage on that browser. This feature does not create a user account or synchronize your list between devices. Clear this site’s browser storage to reset the list and progress. Browsing restrictions or private mode may prevent storage from working.
Interaction analytics
The source code includes an optional PostHog integration. It loads only when the site’s public PostHog project key is configured. Recorded interactions can include entering a destination, selecting a district, moving the camera, opening or saving a place, viewing or playing a route, using the budget calculator and clicking a booking link. Associated properties describe the interaction, such as a place identifier, district identifier or booking provider.
The implementation disables PostHog’s automatic pageview capture but does not explicitly disable all other default SDK features. If PostHog is configured, its SDK and project settings determine additional collection and browser persistence, which may include cookies or local storage. The site owner should review those settings alongside this policy. Development console messages describe events for debugging; they are separate from a configured analytics destination.
Travelpayouts Drive and booking links
PlayableTrip loads the Travelpayouts Drive script on its pages. Drive can provide content performance analysis and travel monetization tools, with active features managed in the site’s Travelpayouts project. Travelpayouts describes its Content analytics feature as aggregated reporting of page and tool performance. Other Drive features and external booking providers may use their own identifiers, cookies or similar technologies for referral attribution and service delivery.
Following a hotel, ticket or other booking link sends your browser to the destination provider. The destination can receive ordinary request information and any referral information present in the link. We do not receive the payment card information you enter there. Review the provider’s privacy and cookie notices before making a purchase. Our affiliate disclosure explains how a qualifying reservation may support this site.
Maps and website delivery
Cloudflare delivers the website and processes requests to operate and protect its service. The interactive map requests map styles, tiles and related resources from OpenFreeMap. Your browser sends ordinary network request information to these services when loading the relevant resources. OpenFreeMap publishes a separate privacy policy describing its logging practices. The map does not require a location permission request in the current implementation.
Your choices and contact information
You can clear site storage, restrict cookies and block third-party requests using your browser controls. These choices may prevent saved places, analytics or parts of the map from working. For privacy questions or requests concerning information you have sent directly to us, use the contact address below and explain the request without including unnecessary sensitive information. Available rights depend on your location and the information involved; the site owner will review applicable requests. If you email us, we receive the address and message you choose to send so we can review the inquiry.
Policy updates
Last updated October 6, 2026. We revise this page when the site’s data handling changes. A policy update does not itself change the storage choices in your browser. Review this page and the linked service policies when deciding how you want to use the map or external booking tools.
