Tokyo Skytree ticket prices
The adult Tembo Deck starting price is JPY 1,800; the adult Deck and Galleria combo starts at JPY 3,000. These are starting prices, not a fixed year-round quote for every date. Check the final amount in the official calendar before comparing it with a reseller. Counter and vending-machine admission purchases on floor 4 carry an additional JPY 500 fee per ticket.
The Galleria add-on sold at the Tembo Deck machines is an upgrade for a guest already holding a valid same-day Deck ticket. Do not compare its price with a complete combo admission as if both products included entry from the ground. For children, check the operator’s age categories and the selected date before buying the whole group’s tickets.

How to book: official site vs Klook vs GetYourGuide
Choose a date and entry time through the official booking channel, then decide between Deck-only admission and the combo. Save the confirmation and follow its entry instructions at the building. If your plans depend on reaching the Galleria, buying the correct combo in advance is clearer than assuming an upgrade will always be available at the moment you want it.
The operator’s current FAQ says it does not offer priority admission. Be cautious about treating a reseller’s general language about easier entry as a guarantee of an official fast-track product. Compare the exact included decks, ticket exchange process and cancellation conditions. A cheaper-looking search result may describe a different date, age group or product.
| Channel | Pros | Cons | Cancellation | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Official site | Direct operator product and entry instructions | Use the operator’s available payment methods and inventory | Read the operator’s product-specific terms | Travelers choosing an exact deck and time |
| Klook | Compare listing language, payment methods and available packages | Inclusions and voucher exchange can vary; check the listing | Check the listing’s refund deadline and weather procedure | Travelers who prefer the listing’s stated purchase terms |
| GetYourGuide | Compare stated inclusions and support arrangements | A search result does not confirm slot availability | Check the listing; do not assume free cancellation | Travelers comparing a clearly specified date and product |
Best time to visit (and sunset slots)
Clear daylight is useful for recognizing the Sumida River, Asakusa and the spread of Tokyo below. After dark, illuminated streets and the river become the focus. Choose the lighting that fits your photography rather than assuming the highest deck is always the best view. Cloud cover can affect distant visibility from either observation area.
Check the operator’s opening-hours calendar for your date before planning a late visit. Hours vary, and last admission is one hour before closing. When traveling with children or a companion who needs frequent breaks, keep the surrounding shopping and sightseeing optional so that the observation visit is the day’s main commitment.
Tembo Deck vs Tembo Galleria
The Tembo Deck is at 350 meters and the Tembo Galleria reaches 450 meters. These are observation-area heights; they are not the total height of the tower. Deck-only admission is the simpler choice for visitors who mainly want a broad city panorama. The combo adds the higher gallery and another elevator sequence.
Pay for the Galleria when seeing the higher gallery is itself part of your goal, rather than because the word “combo” suggests better value for everyone. Visitors uncomfortable with height can start by considering the Deck-only option. Families should compare how much energy remains for the rest of the day, not just the height on a chart.
Advance vs same-day Skytree tickets
Online booking reserves the chosen date and time and avoids the on-site admission purchase fee. That makes it a useful default for travelers with a fixed sightseeing schedule. It is not a promise of uninterrupted entry: ticket checks and elevator operations can still involve waiting.
Same-day admission is useful only if the date’s inventory and your schedule line up. Check availability through the official booking channel before traveling across the city solely for a ticket. We do not publish an unverified advance-release window; use the current purchase calendar to see which dates can actually be selected.
What to expect at the observation decks
Both principal observation areas are indoors. That reduces exposure to wind and rain compared with an open roof, but glass and low clouds still affect photography. The official FAQ warns that visibility can be completely obscured and that poor visibility does not qualify for refunds or exchanges.
Travel light, avoid oversized bags and read the operator’s tripod restrictions before bringing photographic equipment. Do not reserve window space with bags. If you want to take photographs, move between viewpoints and let others approach the windows rather than treating a timed admission as a private shooting session.
Set aside an observation stop plus whatever time you want for the surrounding complex; this is editorial scheduling advice. The operator does not impose a general viewing time limit, though staff may direct visitors when crowding or elevator operations require it. A flexible lunch plan is easier to manage than a tightly timed onward reservation.
- Do not reserve viewing space with bags or belongings.
- Non-folding tripods and oversized bags are prohibited; review the operator’s current baggage rules.
- Use designated areas for food and drinks and cooperate with baggage checks.
Both observation areas are indoors, but clouds can completely obscure the view. The operator does not offer refunds or exchanges for poor visibility. Date and time changes require cancellation and a new purchase under the applicable cancellation terms.
How to get there
The official public-transport guide lists Tokyo Skytree Station on the Tobu Skytree Line and Oshiage (Skytree-mae) on the Hanzomon Line. The main entrance is on floor 4. Skytree is in Sumida; our Asakusa sightseeing district is a practical trip grouping, not a claim that the tower belongs to Asakusa’s administrative neighborhood.
Choose the station that matches your journey, then follow signs for the observation-deck entrance instead of assuming any shopping entrance leads directly to ticket checks. Save the official floor and access diagram. The 3D map helps you understand the relationship with Asakusa, but it does not replace indoor wayfinding or current rail information.

Preview the place and the sequence of stops before traveling. The map plays existing attractions in order; it is a sightseeing preview, not a live transit timetable or a ticket reservation. Use operator information for entry requirements and current rail services for the actual journey.

A flexible half-day around your booking
- Kaminarimon
Start on the Asakusa side with the gate as your meeting point.
- Senso-ji
Visit the temple area without making your ticket depend on finishing every shop along the approach.
- Sumida Park
Use the riverside stop to connect the street-level landscape with the panorama you will see above.
- Tokyo Skytree
Finish with the booked observation visit; verify rail directions rather than relying on a predicted map travel time.
Nearby sightseeing and where to stay
A Skytree visit pairs naturally with Asakusa sightseeing, but the order should follow your reserved slot and the weather. If you have already spent the morning at the temple, decide whether the river stop adds something you want before adding it automatically. You can shorten the ground-level route without changing the observation booking.
Our hotel-area guide compares Asakusa with other bases across Tokyo. Check the actual hotel station, room arrangement and cancellation terms, especially if your airport journey requires a transfer. Being close to the temple district does not necessarily mean being next door to the tower entrance.
Compare Tokyo observation decks
Choose the observation experience and the surrounding day together. Height, weather exposure and ticket category are different decisions: paying for a higher deck does not guarantee a clearer skyline. Compare the other two options before adding another paid visit to your itinerary.

Frequently asked questions
Is Tokyo Skytree free?
The observation decks require paid admission. A visit to the surrounding shopping area is separate from observation-deck admission; check that venue’s own entry rules rather than assuming one ticket covers everything.
Should I buy Skytree tickets in advance?
Yes if your date and preferred entry time are fixed. Online purchase avoids the additional floor-4 ticketing fee, but it does not eliminate ticket checks or elevator queues.
Is the Tembo Galleria worth it?
Choose it if the higher 450-meter gallery is a priority. Deck-only admission at 350 meters is a simpler option when the main goal is a broad indoor panorama.
How long do you need at Skytree?
Allow an unhurried viewing stop and extra time if adding the Galleria or shopping. This is editorial advice; the operator says there is no general time limit, subject to crowding and elevator directions.
Skytree or Tokyo Tower?
Skytree has higher observation areas; Tokyo Tower has a lower Main Deck and a reserved Top Deck Tour. Compare the ticket categories, weather and surrounding neighborhood rather than selecting by height alone.
Can you see Mt. Fuji from Skytree?
The operator says Mount Fuji can be visible on clear days. Visibility is conditional, so do not book on the assumption that the mountain will definitely appear.
